Fixed Candles

Fixed candles are candles that have have been ritually prepared and dressed with oils, crystals, herbs and roots. I use my intuition with every candle, and the candle color and recipe varies depending on your intention.

Here's a quick cheat sheet for what I use according to intention:
Protection: Black, clear quartz, Chile de arbol
Power: Red, high join root, carnelian
Love: Pink, basil, rose quartz
Road Opener: Yellow/Orange, obsidian, cinnamon
Peace/Court Case: Blue, chamomile, lapis lazuli
Money: Green, rose of Jericho clippings, and citrine.
+ then of course White candles are universal, good for manifesting just about anything. Can never go wrong with yellow jasper and roses.

Writing a candle petition & praying over your candle is so important! Most people take a brown paper bag clipping and write on it with a pencil. When trying to attract something, fold the paper towards you 9 times. When trying to banish something, fold the paper away 9 times. I like to speak in present tense as if I already have manifested what I'm asking for. Here is an example protection prayer:

I am divinely protected, my family and friends and community are also happy, healthy and on the road to wealth and abundance. I have no worries because I am in alignment, I have faith, and I do my best to protect myself and the ones that I love everyday.

You never want to blow your candles out. If you're using a tall glass candle, I like to place it in a bowl of water - as they are meant to burn for 7 days. Before you light the candle, make sure you have a safe, sacred space away from any danger pets & children especially lol. Pray on it long and hard, make sure you are building a connection with your ancestors, Spirit guides, and what/who ever else you believe in.

For our candles with bay leaves, you can do a quick bay leaf spell which always comes in handy when wanting to manifest something specific. Just write what you want to welcome into your life on the leaf - whether it be a dollar amount, goal, or directly on the bay leaf and then burn it in its entirety and throw it into the candle. Alternatively, you can just carry the bay leaf on your person/in your wallet if you don't feel called to burn it.

Once the candle is lit, be still with it for a while. I love placing it on my altar and  observing the flame. Here is another quick cheat sheet on how to read a candle:

High Flame: Your request is heard by Spirit and will be easily attained
Low Flame: Your request is unclear, unreasonable or not in alignment
Black Soot around the top only: Negative blocks removed
Black Soot traveling down the candle: Your request has been blocked, more work is needed. Can indicate spell work.
Cracked Candle: Depending on the spot on the candle, this can be a good or bad thing. It’s believed that if the glass cracks, Your request is being blocked, or you done pissed someone off! More work could be needed.
Alternatively, if most of your candle burned through, and it cracks towards the bottom — then there was likely a breakthrough despite the blockages trying to stop the spell 🤍
